What an amazing day! It began by being enthralled by Margaret O'Rourke's slide show and video, then went on to a practical demonstration, followed by the long held tradition of sharing food with one another in the form of a 'bring a plate' event. Long trestle tables both inside and outside of this most wonderful historical building, The Farnham Potteries. The place just exudes a feeling of inclusion, welcome and community.
The event was co-hosted by West Street Potters and 318 Ceramics, two organisations I have a very close affinity with. So not only did I have a great day out being inspired by Margaret, I also met up with long standing friends from within the pottery circles. Students and lecturers from the University for the Creative Arts were also present, some of whom I know from my days there. I graduated in 2013; it seems an age away in many ways, yet the familiarity and feeling of community remains.
